Practical Guide to Using Docker Containers for Dev/Ops

Containers are enabling new ways to run your applications and services by making them portable, extensible, and easy to burst across mix of environments. This can include deployments across private, hybrid and public clouds.

In this talk, we will explore tools and practical uses for Containers with various workflows, how they are being applied to application development and DevOps practices, and consideration for selection between VMs and container architectures. We will cover the following topics:

• Overview of Docker components and toolsfor managing Docker deployments

• Demonstrate deployment and management of containerized application using Docker

• Best practices and consideration when selecting containerization technology and using containers

Mike Coleman (@mikegcoleman) is a Technical Marketing Engineer at Docker where he focuses on creating technical content that allows people to get up to speed on Docker quickly. He joined Docker from Puppet Labs in July of 2015. Before joining Puppet, Mike worked in various Product Management and Product Marketing roles at VMware, Intel, and Microsoft. But, before all that, Mike was a system administrator / architect for HP and Intel - He was once even Certified Banyan Engineer.
