HoloLens - First Encounter

Augmented Reality is the next major innovation cycle, and no product is more at the forefront of this revolution then Microsoft’s HoloLens. Experience it yourself at our first .NET Magic Night MeetUp in downtown San Diego!

The evening begins with an introduction of the HoloLens and the challenge. The objective will be to build a Unity-based HoloLens application using C#. A fully configured Unity project will be provided to get things going. Attendants are split into small teams to tackle the challenge over the next 2 hours. At the end of the evening, every team showcases their work and shares their experience, insights, and takeaways from the challenge.

The Magic Night format makes learning new technologies interactive and fun! Get together with other developers to learn, play, and hack the latest .NET technology. This unique opportunity enables you to team up with peers while you race against the clock to complete the challenge!

PREREQUISITES:

• Windows 10 Pro (http://www.howtogeek.com/234946/how-to-upgrade-from-windows-10-home-to-windows-10-professional/) to run the HoloLens emulator using Hyper-V

• Visual Studio 2015 Update 3 (https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/holographic/install_the_tools) Community or Enterprise with Window 10 SDK

• HoloLens emulator (https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/holographic/install_the_tools)

• Unity HoloLens Technical Preview (https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/holographic/install_the_tools)

Come prepared to have more fun! The less time you spend setting up at the meetup, the more time you have to hack on the challenge!

PARKING:
• Parking at the building is $10 from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM

• The Santa Fe trolley and the train station is only a few blocks away.

• Street parking is free after 6 pm.

• Beware: Horton Plaza recently changed their parking policy and now only provides 1 hour of free parking!
