Calling all dancers

Hey, everybody!

Do we have any dancers in the group? Do you know your feet?

I'm interested in taking folk dance steps and putting together simple
dances using New Age/World music. This isn't as tough as it might seem,
if you already dance or are naturally well coordinated.

I was a folk dancer in a performing group in college many years ago.
I'd like to get back in touch with this tradition, but in a way that
takes the fun, the excitement folk steps and weds them with newer
music. If you're a traditional folk dancer this is sacrilegious, I
know, but hold on now. Villages have been creating new dances in the
old country like forever. Traditional folk dance music is great. I
love it, but it is an acquired taste and most have a hard time with it.

There are a number of folk dance groups in the area that are very good.
Check out the website for Miami Valley Folk Dancers at:
http://www.dayton... This a a nice group of
people who meet every week and some Sundays a short distance from the
library in Springboro. If you want to get your feet wet, give them a shot.

Not familiar with folk dancing? Think "Duquesne University
Tamburitzans"...or Zorba the Greek.

Let me know directly at: [address removed] -My idea is to use
this as a fun break activity during workshops and meetings.

Later,
Michael
