Human-Centric Product Engineering: Why Designers and Developers Should Team Up

Details

[Virtual Event] You’ve done the research, designed the perfect solution, and are ready to deliver that concept to your development team. Suddenly you hear panic-inducing things like: “There’s another more direct way to do what you’ve just proposed.” or, “That will take too long for your delivery date.” or even, “That’s not possible.”

Now it’s back to the drawing board after countless wasted hours as you frustratedly ask yourself, “When was my last design session with my development team?”

User experience is directly impacted by software architecture patterns, database schema configurations, and microservice decisions. Building truly human-centric systems means optimizing from day one, with designers and developers working in close collaboration to answer questions such as:

  • How will people use what will be delivered?
  • What are they doing from the start?
  • What will they do after?
  • What devices will they use and when?
  • How will this need to scale?
  • How can we make it go fast?

UX designers and software engineers should be in conversation about these questions and more from the beginning and at every step along the way. Through the use of case studies and hard lessons learned, we’ll examine:

  • What goes wrong when design and development are segregated.
  • Benefits of including developers in the UX conversation.
  • Benefits of including designers in software architecture decisions.
  • The importance of culture and best practices for integrating design and development teams.
  • Why small teams are better.

Join us Tuesday June 22nd at 7:30 pm, for a feature presentation from 7Factor Software Founder Jeremy Duvall — followed by a panel discussion with engineers, managers, and UX professionals — about why UX designers and software engineers should team up from day one.
