Let’s get together for our second edition of Nulab Drinking Code Singapore.
This time, we’ll be looking at UX / UI Design - after all, an app with great functions would be useless if its users aren’t keen to use it. Or worse, they don’t know how to use it. That’s where UX/UI designers come in under hot demand, and not without reason.

Darren Lee will share how he redesigned the DBS PayLah app as a personal project and how he got into UX design. Darren is a self-taught UX Designer and a final year Communications and New Media major at the National University of Singapore. He began learning design and coding by himself in his freshmen year and became hooked with it ever since. He originally studied biomedical science in polytechnic, switched over to economics in NUS, but then finally found his place in design. In his free time, Darren loves reading and enjoys a good cup of kopi (siew tai).
Evelyn He is the CEO of Castella. Deeply passionate about Technology and Art, she holds the vision of combining the two. She cofounded Castella, in a mission to bring art into people's everyday life with the latest technology and design thinking. Castella is an art dealing platform enhanced by Augmented Reality. In this talk, Evelyn will share with you how the Castella development team approaches UX design in AR.
Shi Ling is the CEO of UI-licious. She's been making web apps since the golden era of jQuery, and gets really obsessed when it comes to designing and engineering great UI, clean code, and cats. UI-licious is a tool for software teams to automate user journey testing for their apps and detect errors. UI-licious's intelligent ambiguity resolution test engine makes it easy for teams to create and maintain tests even as the UI design changes over time.
