Drop-in Painting Wednesday
Invitation for local Bay Area artists to take part in our ongoing painting workshop: If you’re looking to grow as an artist, need feedback, or are looking for a new direction, this might be your perfect opportunity. Whether you work with oils, acrylics, watercolors or pastels ... you are welcome to drop in and bring your paints and painting with you, or a blank canvas. The class is instructed but relaxed and self-paced, and we will assist you technically, conceptually and compositionally in every way. Dickson Schneider (the instructor) works with each artist individually and the class has all manner of feedback - from assignments, to conceptual discussions about your direction, to the particulars of the piece you are making. We meet on a regular basis every Wednesday and Sunday: Wednesdays from 7-10pm Sundays from 3-6pm Cost $20 per 3-hour session Instructor: Dickson Schneider Dickson Schneider has taught at California State University East Bay for 15 years, over 25 different classes - Painting, Drawing, Art History and seminars on contemporary art. He is an accomplished artist in many different media, including Oils, Acrylics, and Egg Tempera as well as video and digital art. One of his activities is visiting the art world in person and in the past six years he has been to New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Berlin, Munich, Portland, Seattle (and more) visiting the particular art scenes there. This first hand look at the contemporary art world has enriched and shaped his own work as well as his teaching. Questions? Email Dickson Schneider directly at [masked]

What we're about

About us:

Autobody Fine Art Gallery is the only contemporary art exhibition space in the city of Alameda and lies in close proximity to the thriving and eclectic Oakland/East Bay arts scene in Northern California. The Gallery space is the core element in an environment that also houses individual artists’ studios (http://www.autobodygalleryandstudios.com/artstudios.html) whose additional income streams allow Autobody Fine Art to do what it does best: showcasing exceptional, experimental and critical artwork.

Workshops:

We also support artists through workshops (http://www.autobodygalleryandstudios.com/artistresources.html) and professional development while engaging the population of Alameda by providing an inclusive environment in which to interact with artworks that frequently push the boundaries of material use, aesthetics and socio-political content.
