Hello fellow London Drupalers!
A long time ago I used to attend a Drupal co-working meetup in South West London which I enjoyed. I thought it would be nice to give back to the Drupal Community by starting what will hopefully be a regular co-working day meetup.
Drupal co-working days take place all over the world, usually on the last Friday of the month.
So, who is this meetup for?
- In a nutshell "Drupal professionals". You can be a freelancer, contractor, home worker, small business owner, Drupaler visiting London, or a relative Drupal novice, but the key thing is you have a keen interest in Drupal.
Where is the meetup?
At the office of Zodiac Media (https://www.zodiacmedia.co.uk), a web development agency based in Stockwell, South London. We have a small office with ample space to accommodate a co-working group. We're based about a 15 minute walk from Stockwell tube station, which is on both the Victoria and Northern lines. We have good internet access and decent tea/coffee making facilities. There's a good cafe for lunch just round the corner (https://www.7gr.co.uk/).
As our office is on the first floor of an old building there is no stair-free access. I'm keen to make sure that there are no barriers for attendance though, so if you have any special requirements let me know and I'll see if we can figure out a work around.
What does Drupal co-working entail?
This is not a standard meetup with presentations, drinks etc, instead it's a less formal working environment where fellow Drupalers can come and get their work done whilst being in the company of other Drupal professionals.
You may want to talk to and bounce ideas off of fellow attendees. Equally you may want some time working in 'the zone' by yourself (bring some headphones if you like). Really it's just a way for people to meet others with similar interests.
Please note that the aim of the meetup isn't to seek new clients or to sell yourself, or your business.
The hours of the meetup are 10-5 is it really a full day?
There's no fixed time as to when to arrive or when to leave. If you have a client to visit in the afternoon then just come for the morning.
The meetup has a limit of 8 attendees is that correct?
Whilst we have spare space in our office it isn't exactly the Shard! We have a meeting room (the current photo for this group) which can probably seat around 6-8 people. We also have another meeting area in the main part of our office. I think 8 is probably the comfortable number we can accommodate. If the event becomes fully booked then please feel free to get in touch and I'll add you to a wait list in case anyone cancels.
Don't forget to bring your laptop!
