November Meetup

Come along to another evening of Drupal Learning, an evening for all of you who sometimes feel that there are things you don't know about Drupal!

6:30pm - 7:00pm : gathering and mingling; collecting ideas for topic tables later in the evening.

For Drupal Newbies:
from 7pm - close : Introduction to Drupal

For those of you who know the Drupal Basics already:
7pm - 7:30pm : Making Drupal Work With Your Content First Strategy - with Robert
- What is "content first"
- How can Drupal implement it

7:30pm - 8pm : Going Mobile - with Sally
- Utilise Drupal to build apps for mobile platforms
- Go beyond simply exporting sites into static apps
- Explore creating Drupal powered mobile apps with JavaScript frameworks

From 8pm - close : Topic Tables
To make the most of these, bring along your laptop to join in and get playing!

- all the topic tables from your suggestions on the night, of course. ;)

- Drupal Ladder with Sally
"Want to get involved in contributing to Drupal? We find some easy issues to get started with together and share tips on how to survive working in the issue queue."

- Theming/front-end working group with Chris and Ifung
"Do you use sass, compass, smacss, html5/css3? Twitter Bootstrap or other frameworks? Zen5, Omega, Adaptive Theme? Display Suite, Fences? Let's get together and share tips, tricks and best practices for coaxing our Drupal pages into looking awesome."

We look forward to seeing you!
Sally and Meike

Note - We will be in the Hub Westminster which means you will not be allowed into the building unless you are signed up for this meetup.

If anyone wants to practice installs, particularly of Drupal Commerce, together that would be great, either in London somewhere or at the next Drupal Learning Meetup. I still find error messages which have attracted dozens of thread comments and highly technical answers when I try to start the thing, and am still unclear how to install stock when the thing does install.

There's a Co-Working event on the 4th January in Wandsworth which you might find useful. Although it's not an out-and-out help each other day (the idea is people all work on their own Drupal work/projects in the same room) you might find some value in attending. See http://groups.drupal.... for more details

    Hi All,

iO1 are hosting an event at London's Southbank this Thurs 6th Dec. Many of you will have seen Adrian Webb (ex NBC) briefly present at Oct Meetup. 'Real Life Drupal' will focus on architecture and best implementation practices, using real world use-cases of a number of organisations, including NBC Universal, The British Council, MTV, NYSE, NHS, Economist, and the White House, USA.

Topics for discussion include: Using Drupal as a platform with various distributions e.g. Panopoly, Open Publish, Open Atrium and how they are competing with proprietary systems

The growth of panels in companies such as Sony, Atari and iVillage

Overviews of some of the initiatives shaping Drupal's future, e.g Spark, integration with Symfony, and the configuration management initiative

Another great night with a couple of interesting and thought provoking presentations. It was good to be able to talk about theming afterwards too.

    Hi all
I look forward to tonight's event. I am looking into Drupal for the development of an e-commerce site with the ability to white label it for partners. As a PHP developer I havent worked on Drupal yet but please send me any comments or suggestions you might have in terms on what to read to understand the framework but also what modules/components i can check in order to implement the e-commerce whitelabeling functionality.
    Thanks in advance

I've been exploring Drupal Commerce a bit but I'd also like to connect with anyone who might have done some Commerce projects. Anyone explored how to do recurring orders? :)
