Join us as John Picozzi, Senior Drupal Architect at Oomph, Inc, presents his DrupalCon presentation on translations with Drupal 8. This live demo will be something of a working session where we will use a local Drupal environment to show the following three things: - How to get Drupal Multilingual setup from a basic Drupal 8 Install - How to translate Items using Drupal’s built-in Translation System. - How to integrate with a translation service like Lingotek to do easy machine translation To participate with this talk you should have the following: Whatever local environment you want (MAMP, Vagrant, etc) - A base Drupal install built with Drupal Composer - If you're more comfortable using Drush feel free! - A basic knowledge of Drupal 8 and how to install modules via Composer The above are not needed if you just want to come, watch and ask questions. • Back to Basics Drupal Challenge
    • What we'll do You can go a long way using Drupal core, contributed modules and themes. But just how far? Let's find out. Drupal Providence presents the Back to Basics Challenge. An exploration of building a Drupal website without any custom code. Pick a project to work on over the next month. Maybe that blog you've meant to start since forever or a small website for that organization you know could use it. Keep your Drupal tool bag of modules and templates in the closet. Guidelines: - Use the current version of Drupal (8.4.x) - Use any core and experimental modules - Limit yourself to four additional contributed modules - No custom code - Use contributed or Drupal provided theme - No additional theming (this is a hard one) Share your results at the next meetup on Feburary 20, 2018. During the meet up we will talk about: 1. Areas where people had success and struggled. 2. What decisions had to be made when selecting four additional contributed modules 3. What did you learn 4. What could be improved in the Drupal world to make the challenge easier • What to bring Bring your computers with your Back to Basics Drupal site and also any questions for Stephen Cross! • Important to know We will have food and refreshments available for all attendees.

  • DrupalPVD Meetup
Our monthly Drupal Providence Meetup is coming up! This year we’re introducing a NEW format featuring a Module of the Month series and Tip of the Month. Join us as we level up at the Drupal PVD Meetup each month beginning at 6 pm, and bring a friend! The NEW general format goes something like this: 6:30 pm - Module of the Month Have you mastered a Module and want to demo it for the group? Is there a Module you want to learn more about that we can present? Let us know. Each month we will review/demo a module to kick off the meeting. Stay tuned for this month’s Module! 6:45 pm - Tip of the Month Each month we will have a helpful tech tip (not necessarily always Drupal) to improve the way you build sites. We would love some group participation so if you have a tip to share, let us know and we’ll give you the floor. 7:00 pm – Feature Presentation This month, Drupal PVD will feature Stephen Cross talking about Drupal 8 being the Best Small Site Solution. There is much talk about how Drupal 8 is positioned as an enterprise solution. It’s also the best Drupal version for building a small business, blog and portfolio websites. Let’s get together and talk about why that is. 7:30 pm (or so) - Networking and Social Time Networking and one-on-one Q&A are valuable aspects of the meetup. Do you have an issue that’s stumping you? Let us know anytime and we can connect you with someone who can help, or even make it a topic at the next meetup.
