Drupal Global Sprint Weekend

• What we'll do
Drupal is one of the largest open source projects in the world and is totally reliant on the thousands of people who regularly contribute their time to the project. The global sprint weekend is held every year where groups of people across the globe get together to work on the project.

Everyone is welcome; if you have built a site in Drupal, you can contribute. We will split into groups and work on Drupal core issues. Bring your laptop. For new folks: you can get a head start also by making an account on Drupal.org, getting some contribution tools, and developers can install git before coming and git clone Drupal 8 core. Mentors will be on hand to guide you through the process, help you find interesting stuff to work on and collaborate on solving issues.

• What to bring
Just yourself and a laptop - we've got tea and coffee and snacks covered and we are talking to some people about sponsoring lunch (and maybe some beers too). The venue has great wifi and fast internet access, we have the entire mezzanine floor so there is plenty of room to spread out and be comfortable.

If you prefer to set up your own Drupal 8 environment ahead of the sprint, here are the tools you will need. Or, you can try the tools installer.

• Important to know
You don't need to be a developer to contribute; we need project managers, bug reporters, QA testers, people to help write documentation, etc... If you ARE a developer, but not sure where to get started, we have mentors to show you the ropes.

We'll all go out for a meal and maybe a few drinks on the Saturday night - dependant on sponsorship the bill might even be taken care of...

FREE TRAINING FOR NOOBS
As part of our national apprenticeship scheme, we are running a training workshop on Friday 26th with coaching on how to start contributing to the project. There is a possibility we could open that to the public (FOR FREE) if you would be interested in attending or mentoring on that day please let us know in the comments below.
