November meetup - Introduction to Data Science

I know it's been quiet here for the last couple of months, while we re-organized the way we run our sessions. We are now back with a session that has been the most-requested topic on our list: An introduction to Data Science for the database professional!

I frequently get asked by DBAs and database developers about the future of their jobs. While I think that the administrative side of these jobs is certainly at risk, there is tremendous potential to pivot into the data science world. After all, you are already looking after tonnes of data, you know how to manipulate data and finally, you understand the business value of this data. Sounds like a natural fit to me :)

We are very fortunate to have two great speakers to introduce this topic to us.

5:30 - 5:45 PM: Networking
5:45 - 6:45: Matthew Renze - Data Science, the Big Picture (Matthew is a data science consultant, author for Pluralsight, international public speaker, a Microsoft MVP, ASPInsider, and open-source software contributor. You can read more about him at )
6:45 - 7:00: Break
7:00 - 8:00: Cem Ayberkin - Getting started with Data Science using the Azure ML Workbench (Cem is a Cloud Solutions Architect in the Data/AI space for Microsoft)
8:00 - 8:30: Pizzas

If you have any questions, please do get in touch via the comments.
