Saturday 27th October: PETRA –AMMAN
After breakfast, a full day visit to the ancient city of Petra, one of Jordan's national treasures and by far its best known tourist attraction. http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/5/8/2/2/event_163042562.jpeg

Petra is the legacy of the Nabateans, an industrious Arab people who settled in southern Jordan more than 2,000 years ago. Admired then for its refined culture, massive architecture and ingenious complex of dams and water channels, Petra is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Much of Petra's appeal comes from its spectacular setting deep inside a narrow desert gorge. We will begin through The Siq and continuing our tour exploring chunks of this fantastic once-lost city which is full of tombs, temples, an impressive amphitheater and a Roman colonnaded street. http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/5/8/5/4/event_163042612.jpeg

The intrepid can ascend the hundreds of rock-cut steps to Ad-Deir. Better known as the Monastery, Ad-Deir has a similar facade to that of the Treasury, but is far bigger and the views from the nearby cliff-tops are awesome. Head back to Amman visiting one of the Crusaders Castles with its diverse history dating back to the Byzantine period. Arrival to Amman for overnight.

Sunday 28th October: AMMAN- JERASH
After breakfast – Amman “Cultural capital of the Middle East” is also the capital of Jordan. You will start with a city tour of Amman, visiting the Citadel, the Blue Mosque and Roman theatre after which you will head towards the North Country for a historic tour, Jerash the Greco-Roman city known as the 'Pompeii of the East'. http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/5/8/0/e/event_163042542.jpeg

Built over 2,000 years ago, Jerash is widely regarded as the best-preserved city of the Decapolis, a confederation of 10 Roman cities dating from the 1st century! We'll explore the site taking in the colonnaded street, amphitheater and more. Return to Amman for overnight stay.
