Come for the doughnuts but stay for the maths.
We will have 3 speakers, each will have the floor for 20 minutes to talk about a topic in applied mathematics.
Prof Andrew Smith from the UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics will give a talk on "Optimal Stopping". Knowing when to stop is not easy.
Dr David Malone from Maynooth will give a talk about bitcoin. The talk will cover a bit of cryptography and also the power usage of miners.
