Applied Mathematics

Details

The next Dublin Applied Maths Meetup will have a weather and climate theme. If you're interested in the mathematics of meteorology, then do join us for this virtual event. It will start at 7:30pm on the evening of Thursday 11th of November.

As usual we'll have 3 speakers, each will speak for 20 minutes about a topic in applied mathematics. The talks will be aimed at a maths savvy audience, though clearly during a 20 minute talk there won't be time to delve into the details, so it will be more like an introduction to a topic.

One of the speakers will be Professor Peter Lynch who has done some great work in meteorology. The title of his talk will be Richardson's Fabulous Forecast Factory.

Dr Enda O'Dea will also give a talk. Enda is a senior scientist at the Met Office in the Ocean Modelling team, his talk is titled:
Sea in, sea out, what's it all about?

The third speaker will be Dr Rafael de Andrade Moral from Maynooth University.
