Plenty of fish in the sea... and plenty of data too

Details

Venue Capacity: 80 people

The capacity of the venue is about 80 people but because of no-shows, we have a policy of first-come, first-served on the night in the event of the room filling up. Managing no-shows is a problem all Meetups have to deal with and this is the fairest method we can think of. While we have never been in a position to turn anyone away for capacity reasons, it is always a possibility, so please arrive early to avoid disappointment on the night.

There is an abundance of data on dating sites out there, how about we have a look at it using data science.... we already have the domain knowledge... should be easy, lets see what we find (famous last words). We'll be going through the various steps of scraping / web crawling, cleaning, understanding and digging through the data from a certain dating site. We will look at its diversity and the challenges in the analysis when using multiple machine learning tools. Looking both at the high and low level information that comes from the data along with the lessons learned from the process.
