The Pobal HP Deprivation index: A Model Deployment Story
Details
Speaker: Patrick Collins
The Pobal HP Deprivation index is Ireland’s most widely used social gradient metric, which scores each small area (circa 100 households) in terms of affluence or disadvantage. The index uses information from Ireland’s census, such as employment, age profile and educational attainment, to calculate this score.
This talk will discuss the construction of the index both technical and sociological but then focus on its deployment. We will look at the full lifecycle of how a model is deployed ranging from the various methods used to aid is adoption, looking at GIS and Resources Allocation Modelling methods, and seeing the impact and outcome of its usage.
