Topological Data Analysis: Visualising the Shape of Data
Details
Talk starts at 6.30pm.
Anthony Anderson has very kindly agreed to do a fascinating talk. Topological data analysis (TDA) is a nascent topic in applied data analysis which posits that data has shape and shape has meaning. This premise offers a visual route to discovering insight from complex data. We’ll cover the basic theoretical and computational concepts behind TDA and then highlight it’s utility in examples spanning a wide range of applications in sports, image analysis, and gene expression. Finally, I’ll point you to resources that will help you get started using TDA on your own datasets.
