Slides, Knowledge, Brews and a Soup of Technology: Recipe for an awesome Meetup!

Details

Hiya IT geeks out there!

Time for another great Devops meetup! As usual we will have beer, pizza and some pretty slick talks - let's don't mess with a recipe that tastes good ;-)

Talks are scheduled to start at 6:30pm, and venue doors will be open from 6pm so whoever is commuting from far can still make it on time.

This will be the event line-up (in order):

"Scaling our AWS environments for multiple teams" - Christian McHugh (https://www.linkedin.com/in/christian-mchugh-a9a79949/) - DevOps Leader @ Dun & Bradstreet.

"A walkthrough and description of the design pattern being used at D&B to allow multiple teams and products to operate in AWS at scale and hopefully, securely. Let's chat about everything from compile to cost control."

"Database systems at Slack: past, present and future", by Guido Iaquinti (https://www.linkedin.com/in/guidoiaquinti/) - Senior Operations Engineer @ Slack.

"Slack is a messaging platform for teams that brings all communication together, creating a single unified archive accessible through powerful search.

This presentation is going to give you an overview about how we run database systems at Slack, the infrastructure and scalability challenges that we are facing and what's the plan to solve them."

"Knowledge and Experience, how knowledge tricks us and how this affects our technology choices" by Cassiano Aquino (https://www.linkedin.com/in/cassianoaquino/) - Senior Staff Engineer @ Zendesk.

"How our brain is wired to force us to take bad decisions and how this influences our services and customers."

“Microsoft SQL Server 2017 on Linux” by James Watson (https://www.meetup.com/DevOpsNorthEast/members/198134027/) from Tombola International.

"We will be looking at Microsoft SQL Server 2017 RC on Linux guiding you through the setup and configuration. This will be an open Q & A session on the performance on Linux as contrasted to Windows. We will look over the performance and stability plus the use cases – along with the migration from Windows hosts. As an open session, we provide our feedback at using SQL Server 2017 RC in a demo live-like environment plus our learning experience at implementing SQL Server on Linux."

Additional info:

Come and enjoy the talks, booze, grub and socializing!
