This February we have two talks lined up:

Talk 1 - Design Studio Workshop: A practical how to guide on running your own

Abbey Smalley will present a how to guide to running your own Design Studio workshop. In it she will provide best practice advice to inspire you as you plan your own design workshops.

About the Speaker

With over 10 years of interactive industry experience under her belt, Abbey Smalley serves as a User Experience and Interaction Design Director within Optum’s UX Design Studio (UXDS).

Client industry list includes Financial, Retail, Healthcare, Fitness, and Restaurants. Prior to working for Optum, Abbey served as consultant at Perficient XD as well as the Online Design and Usability lead for 3M’s global mobile design strategy. Abbey is passionate about spreading the message of a User-Centered Customer Experience and has spoken internationally at several industry conferences.

Abbey Smalley is based in Minnesota.

Talk 2 - Design as you build

Views is a new simplified programming language for designers, non-technical product directors, and developers. It removes the handoff step from the current workflow and lets all team members contribute to how the product works and looks like over the full product’s lifecycle. On a personal level, Views helps UI and UX designers understand how things work, build up collaboration skills, and improve the quality of their design decisions. About the Speakers

Tom Parandyk - UX Architect

Tom is established designer with 16 years of experience in brand building, concept development and user interaction. In early days co-funder of magazine titles and advertising studios. For the last six years he specialised in front-end design, information architecture and user experience. Tom is constantly inspired by new trends and fashions, always reinventing his style and his creative process. He has a relentless energy that pushes boundaries and shapes his perspective on strategic product design. His minimalistic design style maximises brand effectiveness. At the same time usability and positive user experience are fundamentally entwined in his exceptional design concepts. For the last two years Tom focused on making development easier and more accessible for other designers.

Darío Cravero - Engineering Architect

Darío is a passionate engineer with over 10 years of experience in architecting and developing products for different sectors. He has always worked in full stack solutions. His broad understanding of technology helps him provide simple yet powerful and flexible technical solutions. An active open source contributor, he shares every bit of code he can. For the last two years Darío has been helping designers and developers build better things with ViewsDX because working together is more fun :).
