The Service Design Network Ireland and Dublin UX are happy to deliver to you the tenth Service Design Network Dublin meetup! This event is being kindly hosted by Viasat.
For this event we’ll have 3 amazing speakers keen to share their stories on Service Design:
Marc Stickdorn, CEO More Than Metrics
Embedding Service Design in Organizations
Marc will talk about one of the most important emerging topics in Service Design right now - Embedding Service Design in Organizations.
Marc published several books on service design, such as “This is Service Design Thinking” (2010), “This is Service Design Doing” (2018), and “This is Service Design Methods” (2018). He is Co-founder and CEO of "More than Metrics", a company creating software for service design: "Smaply" to visualize journey maps and "ExperienceFellow" to research experiences. With a background in strategic management and service design, he also consults organizations on how to sustainably embed service design in their structures, processes, and culture. Marc regularly speaks at conferences on service design and entrepreneurship and teaches service design at various universities and executive education programs. If Marc is not working, he loves traveling with a backpack or in his VW van, going on a sailing trip, or riding his motorcycle.
Making an MA : creating service design learning.
Caoimhe will talk about the development of the new MA Service Design that will be launching in NCAD this September. She will discuss the rationale for creating a studio-based programme focusing specifically on service design, and outline the ethos that will underpin this immersive, multidisciplinary Masters experience. In order to ensure that the course equips students with the tools to enter the world of contemporary service design, NCAD have worked closely with practitioners from the private and public sectors, and Caoimhe will share a number of the learnings from these consultations.
Caoimhe has a background in industrial design and design ethnography, with 15 years experience across design industry and academia in Ireland, the UK and Germany. She currently lectures in Product, Service and Interaction Design in NCAD. She enjoys creating tangible ways of sustainably embedding design research methods in practicing design teams, focusing on collaborative sense-making and prototype evaluation 'in the wild'. Prior to this she worked with Leckey, designing equipment for children and young adults with special postural needs.
Talk: “Tell Me, Honestly” – Non-Designers Thoughts on Working with Design
Have you ever reflected on what it’s like to work with designers? In this talk and research project we’ll try hold up a mirror on design community and practice and share what others really think about working with designers.

A graduate from the interaction design programme at CIID (2011), John has spent 15 years on a journey from software development through to human-centred interaction and service design.
