Code analysis, Web Components & single-spa, the frontend microservices framework
Details
Hey everyone,
for our July meetup we have 3 talks lined up for you. They are:
What if we had tools that could tell there was a better way to write some code? - Richey Ryan, https://twitter.com/richeyryan
Normally we have to rely on a mentor or teammate to give feedback on our code and help us improve. We're going to explore how we can programmatically analyze our code and suggest code that more clearly expresses our intent.
Why use web components? - https://twitter.com/fellyph
Web components have been around since the first spec was written in 2011, but they only started getting full support from the main browsers in 2018. And this year I decided to give a chance to web components and after my first project with web components what I've learned from that? In this talk, I'll discuss the four key specs that make the magic of web components happen and explain how they can help improve our workflow.
After showcasing the advantages of using web components, I will explain how to use web components in an environment with different applications and highlight the tools and developer guides.
Run Multiple SPAs on the Same DOM with single-spa - Tewson Seeoun, https://github.com/tewson
Do you have a legacy AngularJS app that you want to serve alongside your new React app? Or maybe you want your teams to choose their own technology and deploy independently? single-spa might help you manage that.
I will talk about what problems single-spa solves for my team, show a quick demo, and discuss alternatives and pros and cons. Hopefully people in the audience will have some experience about the same problem to share and discuss also!
Timeline (subject to change):
Doors open - 6.30pm
Talks start - 7pm
End - 9pm
As always we'll have a waitlist policy in operation for RSVPs so please release your RSVP if you can't make it on the night.
Thanks,
Chris & Pat
