Duchess is a global organization for women in Java technology, currently with 550 members in over 60 countries. Duchess provides a platform through which women who are interested in Java can connect with each other and get involved in the greater Java community. It aims to make the role of women and the individual women's contributions visible in the Java community and to teach the benefits of diversity in any team environment - whether corporate or open-source.
Do you have questions or suggestions (e.g. for our next event, speakers or location)? Reach out to one of the organizers via Meetup or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The "official language" is English, so that non-Dutch speakers can also participate easily.
Currently we only accept women as members of this group. This is because Duchess wants to provide an environment for women where they can meet and learn from each other, while they are for once not a minority (as with most technical meetups in the Netherlands).
If you are interested to attend a specific event and you are not a member, we do have a +1 policy for events. Every member is allowed to bring one guest to events (guests may be male of course). So if you want to join one of our sessions, reach out to one of our members or convince a female co-worker to join and ask her to bring you along :-)!
We are working on a code of conduct but of course Meetup's Community Guidelines (https://www.meetup.com/guidelines/) also apply to our group: be real, be respectful, be kind, be safe. If there is any problem whatsoever, please reach out to us!
