Game Night at Atomic Empire
Durham Geeks Wednesday night board game meetup is in its eighth year of existence! Come hang out and play some games with us! Not everyone who attends RSVPs to this meetup and folks often RSVP at the last second, so don't let the low number discourage you from signing up or attending; we usually have at least 6 people at each meeting and often more than a dozen. We meet up at Atomic Empire by the Chapel Hill Blvd, MLK,[masked] interchange, near Target. Atomic Empire serves beer and has soda and snacks. They close at 11:00 on Wednesdays, so we have lots of time to play even the longer games like Battlestar, Scythe, Mansion of Madness, or whatever you've got. We welcome new players! If you just bought a new game and want to try it, heard about one and want to test it, get better at a game you already have, or dust off an old classic, we are the group for you! Even if you don't have any board games, that's fine, too; someone will always be there with a game or two (dozen). And, though we usually have plenty of our own game options, Atomic Empire also has their own store-copy games that we can play. We play many types of games; Euros (Ticket to Ride; Forbidden Island; Concordia; Evolution; Photosynthesis; Yedo), Fantasy Flight games (Mansion of Madness; Battlestar Galactica), deckbuilders (Legendary; Dominion; Sentinels of the Multiverse; Seven Wonders), co-op (Black Orchestra; Captain Sonar), and many games that our members sponsored on Kickstarter (too many to list!). We also have a discussion thread on where we talk about newly published games, additions to our personal collections, plan to play games at other times (e.g., Twilight Imperium, which is too long for Wednesday nights), and talk about all things board game related.

What we're about

So you're asking yourself, "Should I join this group?" For your convenience we've provided a simple test:

1) Do you live in or near Durham, NC?
2) Are you interested in doing fun, geeky stuff?

If you answered 'yes' to both questions then the Durham Geeks is for you!

As a group we are interested in organizing meetups for a wide variety of activities, many of which may be of a geeky bent. Board gaming; RPGs; TCGs; watching anime/sci-fi/fantasy/horror movies/tv shows; going to local museums or geeky happenings; that sort of thing. We aren't constraining the group to activities of a dorky nature, though. Hiking, rock climbing, dance classes, non-geeky movie watching, book discussions, going out for coffee, dinner, or drinks... if it's fun we're probably up for it and can set up a meetup to get folks together for it.
