Bio-Hack Academy IV preview & Biotic Games Interactive Biotechnology workshop

Details

Do you want to hack biology? Create your own lab to experiment with life and living materials like DNA, too? But biotech seems too intimidating to you, and you don't know where to start? Then this gaming workshop is for you! We'll get a sneak preview of what Waag Society's BioHack Academy (https://www.waag.org/nl/event/biohack-academy-4) 4 (https://www.waag.org/nl/event/biohack-academy-4) is all about.

This unique, collaborative 10 week course will host its fourth edition in January 2017. In partnership with biohack labs around the world, each participant will be transformed from biohack zero to biohack hero.

In this preview workshop, we'll dive into the amazing world of biotic gaming. You'll build your own biotic gaming installation from scratch, hacking a webcam into a game microscope platform.

Please note: Bring your own laptop

Doors open at 18:00 and we'll start with the presentation at 18:45

Interacting with cells

Imagine the ability to interact directly with organisms so small they are invisible to the naked eye. Biotic Games installations offer the possibility of being engaging and offering a platform for small experiments. You'll will tinker with LEDs to change the swimming behaviour of light-sensitive Euglena cells, watching them swim live across your laptop screen.
