Then, you can sign up here: https://dutchlanguagecafe.com/membership/. - ACTIVITY - Every Wednesday, we come together to play board games! We split up in groups, with a Dutch native in each group, and then we play games and practice speaking Dutch! We have a special selection of board games, so there is always one for your level of speaking. During the event, we speak Dutch only and avoid English. Therefore, it's not suited for complete beginners (try our beginners event on Sunday instead). But if you're in doubt about your level of Dutch, don't worry! We are all very friendly, speak slowly, help you, and don't care if you make mistakes. So just come and see how it goes! - CONTRIBUTION - We are proud to be self-supportive. We pay for everything ourselves (rent, drinks, materials, etc). We kindly ask a contribution (10 euros/ 8 for students) to make the event possible (natives 4 euro). - CORONA RULES - * Please keep 1.5m distance between each other * Stay home if you have any symptoms * Don't touch your face, wash your hands, cough in your elbow Curious to know what we do? You are welcome to try out our events 2-3 times to see if you find it nice and 'gezellig'. Knitting is a super relaxed and cozy activity and it helps to get conversation going. No knitting skills required! We can teach you. All materials are provided by the organization Wool For Warmth. In return, we donate everything that we knit to the homeless! If you want, you can also practice giving speeches! It is a great way to boost your Dutch public speaking skills! There are two options, either, you can do an improvised speech (about a random topic), or you can do a prepared speech of 5-7 min. The prepared speech can be anything, for example about a topic you are passionate about, you can read a poem or piece from a book, or whatever you want. It doesn't have to be the worlds' best speech, it's just about practicing and having fun :). If you don't want to speech can just chill, knit, and listen to the speeches during this time :] The program will be roughly as follows: 1:30 come in, get started with knitting, informal chat 2:30 speeches (if you want) 3:30 tea (usually chai) & cookies 4:30 event ends - DUTCH - During the event, we try to speak Dutch only and avoid English.
