Deep Dive Austin - Interactive VR/AR Storytelling

Our speakers this month will be members of the Deep Dive Austin (http://interactiveplaylab.com/deep-dive-launch/) team. The Interactive Deep Dive, Two Cents Interactive, and Live In Theater come together to discuss the potential of combining virtual reality and live interactive performance for the purposes of simulation training and digital storytelling. The development teams will present upcoming projects, preview current builds (with some audience participation), and host a discussion on the future of interactive media.

The Speakers

Kevin Percival: A simulation designer, producer, and consultant focused on merging interactive performance techniques with new technologies. He is currently developing live soft skills training simulations for companies around Austin, Texas. http://KevinPercival.com

Olivia Jimenez: A producer, performer, and experiential wellness consultant who combines her yoga therapy training with the tools of interactive to cultivate overall well-being on individual, interpersonal and community levels. She harnesses the power of play to create experiences that are both effective and enjoyable. http://OliviaJimenez.com

Carlo D’Amore: An award-winning actor, playwright, Drama Desk nominated director, and experience designer. He is the entrepreneurial force behind NYC’s Live In Theater. Creator of The Ryan Case (Drama Desk nomination for a unique theatrical experience), No Parole (top ten plays & Audience Award winner at Edinburgh Fringe) Lombardi Case 1975 (top six attractions in NYC by CBS Local) and Malts of Legend (SABRE Award winner innovative marketing). http://LiveInTheater.com

Sebastien Berton: An interactive experience designer, technologist, and producer. He recently co-founded Two Cents Interactive with the mission to explore the space of possibilities created when a digital simulation is mixed with the physicality of the real world. http://twocentsinteractive.com

Joanna Harmon: An actor, producer, and director. She serves as Co-Producing Artistic Director of Live Action Set, an Ivey Award-winning theater company based in Minneapolis. She has produced over a dozen original productions based in physical theater and dance that often incorporate immersive and interactive elements. Her exploration of interactive techniques have brought her to cities across the country to teach and consult for groups developing their own interactive projects.

Christy Casey: Focuses on creating interactive experiences that provoke empathy by giving audiences the opportunity to take a walk in someone else’s shoes. She is currently directing OpenMind, a "SimuLife" experience that spans several days and multiple locations throughout Austin during SXSW. http://ChristyCasey.com, @it’schristycasey
