The final concept photowalk on the elements of design (http://photography.tutsplus.com/tutorials/6-elements-of-design-for-striking-photographs--photo-2574) will cover forms. (Don't worry, we will have concept photowalks on other subjects after this.) Form is like shape, but instead of being concerned only with outline, it is also concerned with the subtle shading that makes an object appear three dimensional. Since photos are two-dimensional, form can be shown using light and shadow. The direction and intensity of the light in a photograph will dictate form.
When you are finished, upload your best work here for critique; post images of different subjects to make your work interesting to others. Please only post images where forms are a prominent part of the picture.
We will meet under the clock in the park opposite Lulu Supermarket in Karama, and then walk through the nearby market. There are several small parking lots surrounding the park, but space is limited, so you may want to arrive early or use public transport in order to avoid missing us. Coming by metro? Expect to walk 15 minutes from the Al Karama Station. A number of bus routes also serve the neighborhood, and stop a few meters away. If you need help finding us, call the EPyC hotline on[masked].
We strongly encourage each of you to critique other people's work by first telling us what you like about it, and then what you think could be improved. (Or as one member put it, "a kiss and a slap.") Remember, critiques are meant to help us improve our skills, so please try to make sure your comments on pictures are meaningful, and don't take any criticisms personally.
Before we set out, your hosts will say a few words, and then you will be free to wander around, either by yourself with them. The sun will set at 5:31 PM, so if you want to keep shooting as the light fades, consider carrying a tripod.
