This easy walk follows Section 11 of the London Green Chain Walk which passes through one of south London's most important wildlife sites - Sydenham Hill Wood, and ends with Crystal Palace Park. We will start at Nunhead Cemetery, one of the magnificent Seven cemeteries in London. We then head towards Sydenham Hill Wood, an oasis in an urban jungle. Detour to Dulwich to mingle with the hoity toities for lunch, before hunting the dinosaurs in Crystal Palace. Excellent views from summit of Crystal Palace.
Refreshments - Lots of cafes on route. Picnic site at viewpoint.
Travel - Nunhead on mainline from Victoria, Crystal Palace on Overground line. Limited free parking around Nunhead station.

This longish walk features some steep but rewarding climbs walking through the beautiful Chilterns. After leaving Wendover we will make our way through the villages of Dunsmore, Little and Great Hampden, and Lacey Green, before arriving in Princes Risborough, where we then pick up the Ridgeway path for our return, taking in the viewpoints of Whiteleaf Hill and Coombe Hill before finally arriving back in Wendover.
Refreshments - Please bring a packed lunch as well as plenty of liquids for the day
Travel - Wendover is on Chiltern line from Harrow on the Hill. Free parking on Sundays close to the station.

This is our first training event for the year. We are arranging a one day workshop covering basic navigation techniques including orientation of the map using a compass and land features; determining the direction of travel, distance and timings; identifying all Map features and details.
The day should give you the tools to plan and undertake walks in lowland terrain. This is the first stage on gaining lowland leader qualifications. We will offer further training to everyone booked in for today’s course so that they can aim to become qualified walk leaders.
Information for today’s course: Compass provided. Area covered OS Map 181, Chiltern Hills North. Please bring paper & pencil, usual walking gear & boots. Plus packed lunch & drinks. Flask of hot tea/coffee would be a good idea. We will finish mid afternoon. There are cafes & pubs by the station to get food & drinks at the end of the course. Chesham is on the Met line from London. Regular trains back to London on Met line. Within Oyster travel zone.
The trainer is a qualified Mountain Leader, Hill and Moorland leader & Expedition Skills. D of E supervisor and assessor to gold level. NNAS provider.

We are returning to see Shakespeare in an Ealing pub garden. Open Bar are back with "As You Like It" with a production that is full to the brim with comedy, romance and adventure!
