EARTH CELEBRATIONS' ECOLOGICAL CITY - PUPPET & COSTUME WORKSHOPS - MARCH 2 - MAY 8 Volunteers are invited to participate in our workshops led by Earth Celebrations' Artists-in-Residence to create spectacular visual art, giant puppets, and costumes for the culminating Ecological City: Procession for Climate Solutions celebrating and bringing together climate resiliency and ecological sustainability initiatives throughout the gardens, neighborhood and East River Park waterfront on the Lower East Side.

-Costume Workshops: WEDNESDAYS, 5-9pm with artist Michele Brody

-Puppet Workshops: SATURDAYS, 12-4pm with artist Lucrecia Novoa

For more information: http://earthcelebrations.com/

Puppet & Costume Workshops culminate in the Ecological City: Procession for Climate Solutions, a theatrical pageant on Saturday May 9, 2020, 11am-6pm (rain date May 12) . The spectacular 7-hour procession of visual art, giant puppets, mobile sculptures and costumes with 20 site performances of dance, music, theater and poetry are presented along the route visiting gardens, neighborhood and waterfront sites. The artistic works explore these sites and their myriad climate resiliency and ecological sustainability solutions to mitigate carbon, pollution run-off and flooding due to storm surges and sea level rise, and connecting the importance of these local efforts to city and global climate challenges.

All participants in the workshops are encouraged to sign up for roles in the ECOLOGICAL CITY theatrical pageant on Saturday, May 9, 2020 (rain date Sunday, May 12).
