What we're about
The East Bay Mystery Readers’ Group (EBMRG) is a fun, casual group formed in January 1994 and is looking for new members. However, we want members who will commit to attending the meetings. The group meets from 7–9 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at my apartment (ground floor so no stairs, but I do have two cats, come early to ensure parking). Therefore space is limited to a maximum of 14 attendees each month. Each month we discuss the three (3) books which had been chosen previously by the group. Some people will have read all three, some only one, and some haven't had a chance to read any of the books, but we still like people to come. RSVPs for each event are opened the Wednesday prior to the meeting. This is to prevent folks from RSVP-ing yes for events months in advance and then forgetting, which would take valuable spaces away from others who would like to attend.
Meetup groups cost money to run. Therefore, I do ask that members donate one or two bucks when they attend to help me recoup the cost of running the group. I shall be collecting $2 per meeting per person to cover MeetUp costs. By consensus of the group, in January, that will switch to a $20 annual membership fee (Meetup charges $120/year). But if you like mysteries, we're the group.
