Halloween Book Club: I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara
Be prepared to be afraid! Let's sip wine and do a non-fiction title about the Golden State Killer. The journalist author passed away while researching and writing this title. Her husband finished it for her. The killer was nabbed just this year. NYTimes Bestseller! From Amazon: For more than ten years, a mysterious and violent predator committed fifty sexual assaults in Northern California before moving south, where he perpetrated ten sadistic murders. Then he disappeared, eluding capture by multiple police forces and some of the best detectives in the area. Three decades later, Michelle McNamara, a true crime journalist who created the popular website TrueCrimeDiary.com, was determined to find the violent psychopath she called "the Golden State Killer." Michelle pored over police reports, interviewed victims, and embedded herself in the online communities that were as obsessed with the case as she was. I’ll Be Gone in the Dark—the masterpiece McNamara was writing at the time of her sudden death—offers an atmospheric snapshot of a moment in American history and a chilling account of a criminal mastermind and the wreckage he left behind. It is also a portrait of a woman’s obsession and her unflagging pursuit of the truth. Utterly original and compelling, it has been hailed as a modern true crime classic—one which fulfilled Michelle's dream: helping unmask the Golden State Killer.

What we're about

So many great books, so little time. You know it's good to expand your mind through reading, so let our group help! We'll meet and discuss wonderful reads on a twice monthly basis. We usually meet at a member's house because it's less costly than going out. Your tickets for admission to each book club is 1) having read the book and 2) your favorite bottle of wine.

We welcome ladies from Claremont, La Verne, Upland, Pomona, Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, W. Covina, Covina, Diamond Bar, and Chino.

Please note that you will need a profile photo to join our group. If you start with one, then take it down, you will be removed from the group. If you join our group and then never attend a book club, you will be removed from the group. It's not personal--we meet in people's homes and we all feel more secure seeing who you are, and if you join and can never attend, then why be a member?

We look forward to meeting you!
