East Side Book Pub! Pages

Hi and thanks for checking us out.

We meet once a month on Sunday evening at 6pm. It's sort of a random Sunday but generally towards the end of the month.

There are usually around 6-10 people that show up each month though one meetup had two of us and another had 27. It depends on the book - and the weather. We're a diverse group: young and old, rich and poor, not much of a "pick-up" group (or maybe we are and it's just not happening for me). More women than men.

Each month members suggest books to read, a poll is created and and everyone has the opportunity to vote. We've been reading primarily contemporary fiction, however anything is a possibility (since it's a democratic process it just depends what everyone wants to read). Some of our books have included: "The Lacuna", "Three Cups of Tea", "The Help" before it became a move, "Half Broke Horses", "Birds Without Wings" - "We read "A Visit from the Goon Squad" before it won the Pulitzer. Not bragging but we're pretty cool.

A complete list of our books can be found here: Book List

We'll meet anywhere on the East Side that has cold beer and a large enough table but have sort of settled into a rotation between The Green Dragon, Bottles, and The Radio Room - but we're open to suggestions. Our discussions are informal but insightful. We're pretty well behaved though we have our days.

Please feel free to push that "join" button and poke around the page for more information and to see what other people are saying about the group. . . unless they've said something bad. Ignore those. If you have any questions please email me.
