  • The Shadows, Gradients, and Rounded Corners Masterclass

    Great design consists of a lot of wonderful properties and effects, but no three effects standout more than Shadows, Gradients and Rounded Corners. They're all over the place, with results varying anywhere from splendid to horrific. Apps you wouldn't consider being design tools even, give you access to these effects. That's saying something. Their use and impact to the world is real and through this Masterclass you'll learn everything you need to know to pull them off perfectly.

  • Replacing Adobe with Affinity

    Online event

    That's right. We said it. If you use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign you might be able to swap them out with a refreshing suite of alternatives from Serif (that's the company behind Affinity).

    Wether you're looking for new tools to keep up with your creativity or just trying to dodge that expensive Creative Cloud subscription, Affinity has impressed us enough that we want to meet up over it!

    We'll be taking a grand tour of the Affinity apps, comparing them to Adobe feature-for-feature and unboxing months of usage learning these tools to help you cut to the chase.

    You might have some new design tools on your belt by the end of this meetup.

    * 7:30 - Featured Presentation

  • ETCC Virtual Meetup

    Online event

    Hey.

    With a club like ours, one might have expected us to have already gone virtual but as much as our focus is on technology, the East Troy Computer Club is about the conversation. The people stuff. Connecting with each other and helping grow one another's skill sets; students becoming mentors. Taking that virtual has seemed a bit lackluster and lost in the noise but now, arguably more than ever, we need these things and each other to keep our curiosities revving high and passions running deep.

    Join us virtually TOMORROW (Thursday) at 7pm for a quick get together. Here's a loose addenda to guide us:

    * 7pm start
    * 7:15pm introductions
    * 7:30pm show & tell (led by Tim Griffin)
    * 7:45pm lighting talk: "Affinity is better than Adobe"
    * 8pm East Troy & Tech trivia game
    * 8:30pm wrap up

    Keep in mind this is an all-ages group and to adjust/filter conversation appropriately. Oh, silly hats are strongly encouraged.

    Can't wait. See you tomorrow night!

  • Winamp

    2894 On Main

    $5.00

    If you were a computer kid in the late 90's, chances are you used Winamp. For those unfamiliar, you're in for a treat. Even to this day, nothing is quite like what Winamp was and somehow, still is. Winamp is just an mp3 player... that kicked-off our digital libraries, powered rave culture and LAN parties, giving us an early glimpse and reach into digital sound design, digital DJ-ing and, most importantly, control over our soundtrack to frag to.

    Come join us for a visually stimulating, nostalgic social mixer to kick off a new series of meetups. This will be less of a presentation and more of a chatty + enjoy the music + standing thing. Light snacks and beverages will be available. If you're a new member, this is a great one to jump in on.

    Doors open at 7pm. We move things over to Sammy's at 9pm.

    Please note: If you are epileptic or are sensitive to intense audio/visual effects this may not be the best meetup to attend. Watch the meetup page for upcoming event announcements.

    NEW: This is a ticketed ($5), limited-seating event. You *must* RSVP and present ID at the door to attend.
