What we're about

Hey readers and beer lovers! Let's get together at some of the best local spots and talk about some great books. It's like Happy Hour and a Book Club had a baby! Every month we'll pick a selection of both book and location, somewhere in the East Valley (east of the 17), where we can just relax and meet some great people. Looking forward to seeing you!

HOW IT WORKS: Please put your book suggestions for this month in the comments. I do keep a list of suggestions so if your idea isn't on the poll this month, it may be in the future. Generally, I try to post the poll the weekend after our monthly meetup and leave it up for voting through that weekend. Three or four choices seems to work best, so that's the target. Venues: I can't make a reservation until I know how many people are coming. Some places just can't handle a large party (10-20 people) and others do not accept reservations. We go back to some of the same places because they CAN handle a group our size and the noise level is low enough that we can carry on conversations. If you have a place you'd like us to try, please let me know, either in the comments, on the message board, or email. We try to stay in the East Valley, preferably locally owned pubs (food & drink) with a focus on a variety of craft beers. Please try to keep your RSVP current (I know life happens) so we can have the best possible experience with each pub/restaurant. Also, don't worry if you haven't finished (or started!) the book of the month. You don't need to prepare a book report, or have profound insights or anything. This is not a fancy Literature class. If you hated the book and gave up after 5 pages, or finished it anyway and hated every character, that makes for great conversation, sometimes even better than when everybody loved it. We read for fun & enjoyment across all genres.
