Sunflower Mine Loop (Moderate/Hard)

Details

Why wait in line to return those gifts you didn't want when you can be out on the trail in your Jeep?

This is a fun loop in the Tonto NFS that takes you to through a creek bed and to the ruins of an old Cinnabar mine. It's suitable for mildly modified vehicles but lockers are recommended. The boulders section in the creek is the hardest part and there are usually ways around the most difficult sections. Conditions can change as water washes downed trees and moves the rocks around. I recommend at a minimum a mild lift and 33" tires for this run. There are are some hill climbs too that take careful throttle control and tire placement. Please read the trail description at TrailsOffRoad to decide if this is right for you.

Please wear masks and practice social distancing.

I have room for one passenger and if anyone else would like to be a passenger, or can take one, please comment.

We'll meet at the West side of where the Bush Highway crosses State Highway 87 North of Fountain Hills then travel as a group up 87 to the Mt. Ord intersection. There is a small area for staging just off the paved road.

ABOUT THE FEE: this is to ensure defer the costs of having a Meetup and to ensure attendance. This time of year especially I'll get a lot of people who sign up yet but never plan on showing up, leaving others on a waitlist frustrated that there isn't a spot open. I'll have stickers for your Jeep of the trail and ones from past runs if you've come out and I forgot to bring them. Fee is per vehicle not per person. If you are a passenger wanting a seat please comment in the messages or wait until it fills up to go on the waitlist and I can match you up with someone.
