Invitation to Delivering Happiness Town Hall in San Francisco

From: Anthony
Sent on: Thursday, August 18, 2011 10:12 PM

Hi, everyone. :-)

Although this message stems from yesterday's August 2011 Organizer's Pick Discussion meeting on Tony Hseih's Delivering Happiness, the following message is for everyone in the East Bay Book Club, not just those who attended last night's book discussion.

First off, a little quick background info. Delivering Happiness is about Tony Hsieh making the work environment at a very happy place, and the effort goes beyond the business itself. It has led to what is known as the Delivering Happiness movement, comprising people from all over the world who are inspired enough by the book to be community leaders devoted to making people happy through all sorts of community events.

In yesterday's book meeting, I surprised the attendees by secretly inviting three people from the Delivering Happiness movement to the meeting. (Actually, they offered to join the meeting, and I gladly accepted.) In return for their generous contributions to last night's book discussion, one of them, named Melissa Lacitignola, asked me to forward the following announcement about an upcoming Delivering Happiness event to everyone in the East Bay Book Club.

Imagine miniature Tedx talks by members of your community on things that inspire and make them happy. These presenters prepared 12 slides that will advance every 15 seconds, whether they're ready for it or not giving them exactly 3 minutes to inspire and bring about a little bit of happiness to their fellow community members.

Well, no need to imagine anymore, because on August 23rd, you'll be experiencing just that. We're testing out the waters with a new type of Town Hall - a Town Hall where everyone in the community is encouraged to share their happy and inspiring stories no matter how great they may or may not think their public speaking skills are.

Delivering Happiness is more than a book, it's more than a bus tour, it's a full on movement and the movement starts right here in the Bay :)

There will also be exercises and plenty of time to discuss how we can better serve the San Francisco community and beyond. So bring your ideas, happy stories and passion and get ready to inspire and be inspired.

We will be providing refreshments, finger foods and hugs AND we will be giving out a PRIZE to whomever brings the happiest baked good or savory bite sized snacks ;)

If you are interested in giving a short presentation at this Town Hall, please contact Melissa at [address removed]. There's no such thing as a bad topic idea, just as long as it's something you're passionate about. So all who's interested may apply ;)
