Announcing a new Meetup for The Chandler/Gilbert Wine Meetup Group!

What: Casual Night at Sandra?s

When: Saturday, October 30,[masked]:00 PM

Sandra?s house
Sossaman & University
Mesa, AZ 85207

What is Casual Night?
Casual nights are casual wine tastings. We get together at someone?s house to enjoy wine, food, each other's company and wine knowledge.

Who should come?
Do you like wine? Do you want to taste different wines? Then you should come to Casual Night.

In October
You are all invited to Sandra?s house for a special Halloween Casual Night on Saturday, October 30th, beginning at 7:00 pm. As Casual Night is being held over the Halloween weekend, Sandra has invited us to wear costumes or masks. You are also welcome to come as yourself ? which for some may be scary in itself! devilish

Wine Theme
The theme is Australian Wines. Australian quality wines identify a specific wine growing region on the label indicating that the majority of the grapes were grown in that region.

The Barossa Valley in South Australia is known for having some of the oldest vines in the world and produces full bodied wines with bold fruit flavors. The main grape varietals grown in the Barossa region are Chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

The Yarra Valley in Victoria is regarded as one of Australia?s coolest climate regions, capable of making classic style wines from a wide range of varieties. The Yarra region produces Australia?s best Pinot Noirs, melony Chardonnays and silky Shiraz.

The Hunter Valley in New South Wales is known for its noteworthy Semillons, creamy Chardonnays and velvety Shiraz. Wines from the Hunter region are considered to improve with age and continue to mature for 10 to 20 years.

What to bring ? food and wine

Wine - You are asked to bring one or two bottles of wine. (Think $10, $15 or $20 a bottle.) Ideally, bring a wine that matches the theme. If it?s a wine that you positively do not like, bring a wine that you do like. Remember that we are there to taste and learn about different wines each month.

Food ? We are asking that any member whose first name begins with A to L and anyone that?s bringing a guest (more than one person on the RSVP) to bring a dish to share. (The other half of the alphabet will be asked to bring a dish next month.) If it?s not your turn to bring food this month, but you have a dish you really want to bring, please feel free to bring it. I?m sure that the group will enjoy it. Also bring serving utensils for your dish.

RSVP and directions
As a courtesy to the hosts, please respond to the invitation no later than Thursday evening before the event. Only those who respond YES by Thursday night will be sent the address on Friday. If you haven't received directions by Friday late evening, please email Tana or me. (These emails are blocked sometimes, so check your spam box first, too.)

You are always welcome to bring a guest to an event, we?d love to meet your guest! We just ask that you include that person in your RSVP, just add the correct number of guests and click Update RSVP. The Meetup system totals members and their guests automatically when giving an expected attendance. And - if you are bringing a guest, please make sure to increase the amount of food and wine you are bringing accordingly.

If your plans change, please update your RSVP because it makes it much easier for the host to plan the event. Go back into the event and your current response shows on the top right of the page. Just click your new response and submit. Thanks!

Wine and Drive
These don?t mix, obviously. Each person attending these events is responsible for his/her own safety and sobriety. The host is in no way liable for anything that might occur at the event or afterward, including driving home. You are responsible to designate a driver for yourself and your companions for every event.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
