What we're about
HU is an ancient and holy name for God. It is also a love song to God, and a HU Chant is a gathering to chant this sacred name for God. HU is one of many spiritual exercises (http://www.eckankar.org/spex.html) used by ECKists to further their spiritual growth.
Regardless of your beliefs or religion, chanting HU regularly can help you:
— Remember and interpret your dreams.
— See events in your life from a higher spiritual perspective.
— Expand your awareness.
— Experience inner light and sound.
— Meet ECK Masters (http://www.eckankar.org/Masters/index.html), spiritual guides who can help you grow spiritually.
— Research your past lives, so you can see how they affect you today.
— Have conscious Soul Travel (http://www.eckankar.org/soultravel.html) or out-of-body experiences.
— Find solace during times of grief.
And that's just the beginning...
Chanting HU is very easy. To begin, find a quiet, comfortable place. Close your eyes and look into your Spiritual Eye, that point above and between your eyebrows. Take a few deep breaths.
Then begin chanting HU (pronounced like the word hue) in a long, drawn-out sound, HU-U-U-U. Repeat that for 5 to 20 minutes. This builds your spiritual stamina gently over time, gradually opening your heart to God. You may read more about the HU and listen to a recording of thousands of spiritual students chanting HU here (http://www.eckankar.org/hu.html).
We meet for HU chants at the ECK center and in several public meeting locations in the DFW area. Aside from HU chants, we also hold spiritual discussion classes, workshops, seminars, and ECK Worship Services for those interested in learning more about the teachings of Eckankar (http://www.eckankar.org/whatis.html). All meetings are free and open to the public.
