Closing the Middle Skills Gap – Innovation in Minnesota’s Education Sector

There are currently 6.9 million job openings across the U.S., nearly half of which are “middle-skill jobs” – jobs that require more than a high school diploma but less than a four-year degree. As students strive for an educational path that leads to a career, and businesses seek out skilled talent, we must consider new avenues to bridge that gap. Join ECMC Group, ECMC Foundation, EdNorth, and the Minnesota Cup for a thought-provoking panel discussion about the intersection between education, policy, and innovation, and the role each plays in closing the middle skills gap, featuring individuals from each of those sectors. Moderator: Aanand Radia, Managing Director, University Ventures Panelists: Mitch DeJong, Chief Technology Officer for Design Ready Controls Kim Taylor, Founder / CEO of Cluster, Inc. Louis King, President & CEO of Summit Academy OIC Jeremy Hanson Willis, Deputy Commissioner Workforce Development, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Schedule 5pm: Arrival and Networking 5:45pm: Opening remarks: Jessica Berg, Director of MN Cup and Jeremy Wheaton, President & CEO, ECMC Group 6:00pm: Panel discussion & Q&A 7:00pm: Social and Networking RSVP Here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/closing-the-middle-skills-gap-innovation-in-minnesotas-education-sector-tickets-58378415412#tickets
