Charles River Herb Walk!
Do something different for lunch! Join us for a fun, informative walk with the plants along the Charles!
There are over 40 different species of medicinal plants growing along the Charles River between Harvard Square and Central Square!
The ability to identify and use each of these plants was once commonplace to every man, woman, and child, but today most of us have lost that knowledge. Come reclaim what’s yours! Join us regularly throughout the spring, summer, and early fall and learn the plants in all of their stages of growth. By the end of these sessions, you’ll feel confident in your ability to identify the plants along the river – and you’ll how you can work with them!
Meet at the Harvard Weld Boathouse on the corner of JFK and Memorial Drive between noon and 12:15 – look for the herb walk sign! We’ll leave promptly at 12:15, and return by 1:15. Feel free to bring a notebook or sketchbook, cameras, etc. The fee for the herb walk is $5.
Herb walks are “Sprinkle or Shine!” – if it’s just damp or a bit drizzley, we’ll walk anyway. If it’s raining enough to need an umbrella, that makes it hard to learn so we will cancel in that event.
