The origins of several Yucca glauca plants in Nose Hill Park remains a mystery. A stark contrast to the fading landscape, they stand out as a symbol of resiliance against the odds.

Storytelling is the oldest form of passing down information from person to person and between generations. Stories evolve and adapt to new conditions, meanings and experiences. Stories have long been a means of sharing and remembering how to use and interact with plants.

Join me, a herbalist and botanist, as we weave together the stories of Yucca. Building on existing knowledge of biology, history, edible and medicinal uses we will create our own story about the origins of Yucca in this place and time.

To me, the place where the Yucca grows is a sacred space. Unusual rock formations in the area are suggestive of the fact that the feeling is mutual. We will take a moment to engage with sacredness and a small offering will be provided to give to the Yucca.

Remember to dress appropriately for the weather as we will be standing/sitting still for around 30 minutes.

The cost of this meetup is $10, however, concessional prices will be available to those in need, please message me to find out more.
