What we’re about
The Edinburgh Fortean Society presents monthly talks on a variety of subjects suggested by the work of Charles Fort. This could be on anything from cryptozoology to folklore to historical anomalies and much more. These happen on the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Beehive Inn, Edinburgh. All are welcome and it's only £1!
We also organise other events occasionally, including conferences and walks. Join the group to keep an eye on what we're doing.

The next talk of the Edinburgh Fortean Society is Wednesday the 11th of October at 7.30pm:
Charles Paxton will be speaking on:
Explaining Singular Fortean Cases?
What is the best explanation for an anomalous experience or event? How can we distinguish between different hypotheses? Here I will explore the approaches and limits of science and ask if other methods are available (with your help!).
Warning: talk will be interactive!
Charles Paxton is a statistical ecologist at the University of St Andrews who also teaches scientific and critical thinking. He also has an interest in the science and history behind reports of historical sea and freshwater monsters (details can be found at www.sea-monster.info). He is not sure if he is a cryptozoologist or not.
