New York-based, international artists and scholars Dakota Romero and Edwin M Ferreras travel the world teaching and performing Bachata, Bolero, and Merengue, as well as hosting a music and dance tour in the Dominican Republic twice a year. They are widely popular for their innovative methods of instruction; including connection, musicality with instruments, cultural idioms, history, footwork, and etiquette, all the while encouraging their students to express themselves in their own unique way.
Edwin, International Ambassador of Dominican Arts, is a Dominican-born dancer, choreographer, and tenured master educator who earned his BA in Music Education in New York City. Dakota, Indigenous to Apache Territory (now known as Mexico/New Mexico), is a multi talented artist; singer-songwriter, dancer, and actor who earned her BA in Music in Los Angeles, CA.
Together, Edwin and Dakota founded AreΓto Arts, named after the all-in-one TaΓno word for rhythm, song, dance, and gathering. AreΓto Arts is an educational dance company, focusing on Afro-Caribbean rhythms and roots. Their aim is to educate students on the history, culture, development, and growth of Afro-Caribbean Arts, as they continue to travel the globe, captivating the world of dance.
