Dirty Harry..... Blondie Tribute

The Liquid Room

Dirty Harry is the only tribute band for the true Blondie fan. Formed in Edinburgh in early 2011, Dirty Harry was borne out of singing doctor, Sarah Kennedy’s desire to create a act which could play homage to everyone’s favourite rock goddess, Debbie Harry and to the band who practically invented Power Pop, Blondie. Nearly four decades after Blondie emerged onto the anarchic downtown New York punk scene Sarah struck gold on Gumtree and found four of Edinburgh’s finest musicians to complete the line up. In the annuls of rock Blondie is unique; their back catalogue has proven to be timeless and with Ms Harry at the front, whats not to like guys! Dirty Harry has not only the original sound, feel, attitude, and full back catalogue of the band but a look- a- like of Debbie to deliver the good stuff. If a recap of some of the top tunes are required, lets remind ourselves; Heart Of Glass, Call me, Rapture, Sunday Girl, Dreaming, Atomic, Denis, Hanging on the telephone, Maria, One way or another.. Dirty Harry do it all plus plenty more of the best chart toppers and fan’s favourites. The essence of Dirty Harry is to put on a show Blondie would give the nod to and in true punk style we can embrace any sort of venue, function or odd request so feel free to test us out. As Oscar Wilde put it- ”There are but a few great second acts, but for those that can deliver in style, the applause lingers long after the curtain comes down and the critics have put down the sword…” Pity he never caught Atomic Kittens version of Tide is High!! Chantel McGregor

Bannerman's Bar

A female guitar prodigy, Chantel McGregor was told by a major label that she had a "great voice, but girls don't play guitar like that!" Wisely ignoring their comments, she enrolled at the Leeds College of Music and became the first student in the college’s history, to achieve a 100% pass mark at BTEC, with 18 distinctions. Chantel released her highly anticipated album, Lose Control, in 2015, this being the follow up to her critically acclaimed 2011 debut album, Like No Other. After years of touring and festival appearances, Chantel returned with a vengeance with 10 new songs that not only salute contemporary rock, but shows her gradual transition from conventional blues to a harder, bigger and bolder rock sound with progressive influences. The single, Take The Power, from her latest album, was playlisted for five weeks on Planet Rock radio. Chantel is currently writing for her third album, debuting some of the new tracks on her 2018 UK & European tour. Tickets £ 15.00 from https://tickets-scotland.com/events.html?event_method=daylist&event_date=2019-08-27

Aiden Moffat and RM Hubert

Summerhall Arts venue (old Dick Vet School near The Meadows)

_ Price: £16.50 advance / £18.50 doors _ Age Group: 16+ (under 18s accompanied) _ Venue: The Dissection Room The story’s almost over. The music begins to swell as the camera drifts to a final, poignant shot. Soon the screen will turn black; soon the credits will roll. A year on from the release of their first album – a very busy 12 months in which they also released a Christmas album, a live album, and played countless shows and sessions – much like the brief encounters and doomed dalliances of our songs, Aidan Moffat & RM Hubbert have decided it’s time to part ways. The heart can only hold so much. Their goodbye comes in song: a final release, the brand new single CUT TO BLACK, which not only serves as an epilogue to the 2018 album HERE LIES THE BODY, but can also function as a romantic movie pub quiz (see below for answers). It’s the closing scene, the emotive denouement; the last words and parting shot. (The 7” vinyl single, released by Rock Action on August 16th, will also feature an exclusive b-side with download.) To celebrate their uncoupling, they will play our final shows in the UK this year. Tickets https://www.summerhall.co.uk/event/aidan-moffat-rm-hubbert/
