• OS in Fintech Event Series – 'How to create a Data Mesh with open source tools'

Happy New Year! For our first talk of 2021, we're pleased to announce that Andrew Carr, Scott Logic's Head of Consultancy (Bristol), will be presenting: //HOW TO CREATE A DATA MESH WITH OPEN SOURCE TOOLS// Register at https://zoom.us/webinar/register/9516100246550/WN_C0pstOXlSfuRQRH1GqWRrQ While Data Lakes have allowed us to generate analytics on a scale that was hitherto impossible, they have also brought with them many challenges, particularly in relation to the ownership, quality and understanding of data. In the financial services context, there has been the additional challenge of establishing and maintaining ‘Chinese walls’ to keep data visible only to people who should see it. Data Meshes promise to solve some of these problems, moving away from the inherent challenges of data management in centralised lakes and warehouses. But with current open-source tooling, how easy is it *really* to head towards a Data Mesh? In this talk, Andrew Carr will explore what challenges you’re likely to face, but also what’s feasible to achieve now while the tooling catches up with this new paradigm. _____ You'll have the opportunity to ask questions during the live webinar and the session will be recorded, so if you’re unable to join us at the live time, register anyway and you’ll receive a link to watch it on-demand. _____ If you would be interested in speaking at a future event, please message co-organisers Claire Cocks or James McLeod via Meetup.com here https://www.meetup.com/Edinburgh-Open-Source-Fintech-Meetup/members/?op=leaders. ______ The Edinburgh Open Source Fintech Meetup is organised in partnership with FINOS (https://www.finos.org/) and Scott Logic (https://www.scottlogic.com/).
