Heavy Gaming Group

Board N Brew Cafe

This is a get-together for those that wish to play more complex and strategic games that may be otherwise difficult to get played. For the price of admission, you can play some of the most devilishly intricate designs available to gamers. Everyone is welcome, but new players will have to be prepared for a level of difficulty that may seem overwhelming to the uninitiated. Some familiarity with more complex board games or other involved tabletop gaming (Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer 40k, etc.) will certainly help. We welcome participants to bring their own heavier board games, but ask that you have a cursory understanding of the rules and are prepared to teach it, so that we are not learning the game straight from the rule book, as that will cut too heavily into our limited time. We will not be strict about only playing heavy games, as we may play something shorter at the beginning as we wait people to arrive, or after, as we might not have time to play a second heavy game. The goal is to play one main event heavy game per night. If we can squeeze in a second, all the better. As for what qualifies as heavy, anything in Board N Brew black section qualifies, though it will be possible to make an exception for some blue section games if the group so desires. A good rule of thumb would be anything that takes fifteen minutes or more to explain and plays in 90 minutes or more. This group exists because these games are harder to get played and can be terribly exciting experiences, but again, we can make exceptions if the group agrees. We hope that you will enjoy playing some of the more sadly obscure titles of hobby gaming. May the best mind win!
