Effective Altruism is applying evidence, reason and rationality to the goal of making the world a better place.
Examples: giving to the most cost-effective charities, volunteering with the most high impact organisations, thinking critically about what causes to support, choosing a career in a way that maximizes impact.
Effective Altruism Brussels is a group that meets up every month or so to discuss Effective Altruism, to spend time in each others company, to meet friends both old and new, to engage in conversation both intellectual and mundane and to consider what are the best ways for us to play a part in making the world a better place.
We are very welcoming so turn up even if you do not know anyone or have never been before. And bring along any friends too. :-) Further reading on effective altruism: - http://whatiseffectivealtruism.com/
If you like to discuss Effective Altruism, or want to talk about how to apply these ideas in your everyday life; or maybe about what you can do to promote Effective Altruism, please come by! Even if you don't really know what Effective Altruism is and just want to ask some questions, you're very welcome.
These meetups are held every last Tuesday of uneven months and every last Thursday of even months.
Effective Altruism is a movement that tries to answer one simple question: How can we use our time, money and resources to help others the most? Instead of just doing what feels good, effective altruists try to use reason and evidence to do the most good.
