Matt Lerner of Founders Pledge on Research into Effective Giving

Details
We're excited to hear from Matt Lerner, Founders Pledge's new Director of Research! Founders Pledge is a research organization and community of charitable entrepreneurs. Matt will give an overview of their research and recent work across a variety of topics, including climate change, preventing war and conflict, and their new Patient Philanthropy Fund!
Founders Pledge's mission is to empower entrepreneurs to do immense good. They create the infrastructure to make it easy for entrepreneurs to give, and conduct research across a wide variety of fields to advise their members on the most high-impact giving opportunities available. Check out their public research reports here to get a taste of their work.
Matt joined Founders Pledge as Research Director in July 2021. He is a social scientist by training and inclination, but his career has been pretty varied so far. He has led surveys of entrepreneurs in Egypt, written software to evaluate returns to education in the US, and given an interview in (broken) Spanish on drive-time radio in Medellín. He received his BA from NYU and his MA in quantitative social science from Columbia.
