Making change simple: 6 Tools for solutions-focused change (LAST Conf. preview)

Details
Summary:
Working in IT, you’re familiar with problem analysis to find the cause of the problem and fix it. This makes sense for complicated deterministic systems. But this approach fails for complex adaptive problems such as team dynamics, people management and organisational change.
The solutions-focused approach has been developed from a psychotherapy approach called solutions focused brief therapy. This approach focuses on identifying what works and will move you towards what you want and less on finding root causes. This has found to be highly-successful with positive change and forward progress emerging much faster than using a problem focused approach.
Depending on the time available I would like to present up to six of the solutions-focused tools that can help move you forward when feeling stuck, make progress in a complex domain, and create positive change in your organisation. I’ll also highly the overlaps with agile principles and the LEAN startup approach.
