Elasticsearch is a technology growing in the tech scene. In Zalando, We learned that its a state of the art tool that in the hands of the data artist, it can be used to design data models solving data challenges at a very large scale in a performant distributed manner.

This meetup is dedicated to share, present or exchange knowledge of data design, architecture, information retrieval, operations, or any data challenges solved by elasticsearch.

Abstract:

Zalando is an online fashion & style store with millions of products. Being a successful growing business, involves having a growing set of challenges. One of our biggest, is to satisfy and match customers with their relevant styles from our fashion products.

Elasticsearch is a technology growing in our tech institution solving a lot of relevancy & search problems.

The talk will discuss the journey of elasticsearch in our institution, in terms of which problems it solved, and what use cases it fits.

In our online fashion store we use elasticsearch in a variety of projects for different use-cases. In this talk, will cover how we designed our elasticsearch clusters to fulfil the requirements of our fashion & styling features.

Abstract:

In this talk Tomasz will give a brief introduction about SoundCloud's search infrastructure and using Elasticsearch for core search features. Will be sharing some insights about the setup, dealing with scaling challenges, and other maintenance tasks. Moreover, covering load and A/B testing, and how data plays a role in the core of decision making.
